Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Collision

VANCEBURG, Ky. (June, 23, 2025) –On Saturday June 21, 2025 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Kentucky State Police  (KSP) Post 8 Morehead was contacted by Lewis County dispatch in reference to a fatal traffic collision. 

Preliminary investigation indicates that Adam D. Thacker, 39, of Vanceburg was operating his all terrain vehicle (ATV) near River Street when he failed to negotiate a curve causing his ATV to overturn ejecting a juvenile passenger.  The juvenile passenger was taken to Meadow View Hospital for life threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased by the medical staff. 

As a result of the investigation Troopers have arrested Adam D. Thacker charging him with Vehicular Homicide Under the Influence of Alcohol, Operating Motor vehicle Under the Influence 1st degree (aggravated) and Criminal Trespassing 2nd degree. 

KSP was assisted on scene by Vanceburg Police Department and Lewis County EMS. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Detective Matt Martin.
